Volunteer Clearances
Pursuant to Act 153 of the PA State Code, enacted for 2015, all volunteers with the DBSA must complete and provide the DBSA with official proof of the following:
- Criminal Background Check through the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP): https://epatch.pa.gov/home (Free for volunteers)
- Child Abuse Clearances through the PA Department of Human Services: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home (Free for volunteers)
- If you have been a PA State resident for the last ten consecutive years, then you will need to complete the following waiver and submit it to DBSA: https://www.dhs.pa.gov/KeepKidsSafe/Resources/Documents/Disclosure%20Statement%20for%20Volunteers.pdf. If you have not been a Pennsylvania State Resident for the last ten consecutive years, then you will need to complete the following FBI Fingerprint Clearance: https://www.dhs.pa.gov/KeepKidsSafe/Clearances/Pages/FBI-Fingerprinting.aspx
Disclaimer: All volunteers who will be actively working with the DBSA, or any other youth organization, are required to provide the organization with documentation on these clearances. This is PA state law, and is a non-negotiable requirement. These clearances will be kept on file with the DBSA. They are transferable to other organizations, as well. Please note, this is now Pennsylvania State Law, not a directive from the DBSA, and applies to all organizations involving children under the age of 18 in the state of PA. Thank you for your understanding and compliance.
